Worship resources – a reflection for Sunday, 26th April 2020

As part of our commitment to preparing and sharing resources for worship and prayer, we are pleased to offer a reflection for this Sunday (26th April 2020). Delivered by our Vicar, Adrian Smith, it refers to the gospel passage for Sunday, Luke 24.13-35. Our other readings are Acts 2.14a, 36-41 and 1 Peter 1.17-23.

The painting referred to in the reflection is ‘Kitchen Maid with the Supper at Emmaus’ by Diego Velázquez. The painting may be viewed here. The poem, ‘The Servant Girl at Emmaus’ by Denise Levertov may be found here.

We continue to livestream services on our Facebook page, which may be found here (on Sundays we gather online at 11am, and on weekdays we gather for Evening Prayer at 5.15pm).

We also now have a service via Zoom at 9.30am on Sundays. Please email us for more details.

A further resource that might be of interest to you or people you know is a free national phone line from the Church of England. Daily Hope offers music, prayers and reflections as well as full worship services from the Church of England at the end of a telephone line, and more details are available here.

We hope that this reflection is helpful to you.
