St Mary’s is a church that offers a unique atmosphere of peace and prayer in a bustling tourist area.
We are a Church of England church, located on the corner of Bailgate/Exchequergate, in between the Cathedral and Castle and next to the White Hart hotel.
We welcome everyone from all walks of life to our church, whether you are just visiting Lincoln or are thinking of joining us for worship.
In addition to our gatherings for worship, our regular opening times are as follows:
Monday to Friday: 10.30am–11.30am The church is open to visitors and this time is an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the building.
Wednesdays: ‘Open Space’ from 1pm until 2pm. This is a further opportunity to come and enjoy the peace of this special place. Often on a Wednesday we welcome people who might wish to come and sit and pray quietly, and perhaps light a candle. Other people come and sit and read their Bible, make requests for prayer (members of our ministry team are available), explore the history of the building or sit and eat their lunch. All are welcome.
Saturdays: we have services that coincide with local events; for example, the church is open regularly from 10am until 4pm on the third Saturday in the month when there is a Farmers’ Market held in the Castle Square, adjacent to St Mary’s. At 4.30pm on these Saturdays (third in the month) there is a service of Holy Communion.
