CHURCH EVENT : Cathedral Quarter Advent Wreath Festival

The festival has been held in St Mary Magdalene's Church, Bailgate for the past 13 years and has grown year on year. It began as the Bailgate Guild Christmas Tree Festival when 40 real trees were displayed in the church and decorated by members of the Bailgate Guild Traders' Association. It proved very popular with visitors and the local community but was very difficult to erect and dismantle, occupied half of the nave and could only remain on display for a few days. Barbara Wellman then came up with the inspired idea of using wreaths instead of trees. This enabled more businesses to be represented and also meant that that they could remain in position throughout the busy Christmas Market and longer so that more visitors could see them.

The Church will be open over the Festival as follows:
Weekdays from 10:30am to 11:30am;
Weekends from 2:00pm to 4:00pm;
Open over the Christmas Market period from 12 noon - 6:00pm daily (5:30pm close on Sunday).

Thursday 6th December until Sunday 9th December 2018
